Is there a way to translate the posts in these newsgroups into English? I chose English as my language in my Profile setup, and I was hoping that maybe that would translate the posts for me, but it didn't. Is there no way to do this? Thanks.

Unfortunately translaion programs are far away from being perfect. In order to get a rough impression, you could feed some of the posts into the google language tools (http://www.google.de/language_tools?hl=en). If there is anything in particlar which you are interested in, just drop a line in the topic itself. Most of the people who frequently visit this board, speak English pretty well and will undoubtedly be happy to have foreigners join into the discussion.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum. This old thread seems like a good place for me to start. I too note that this is primarily a German forum. It is only natural since Pelikan is a German brand. I hope most members feel the same way as Stephan Thirmeyer does. After all the English Language evolved from the West Germanic branch of languages. So long as English inclined participants are not ridiculed in German Rashiki and myself will be fine. I look forward to an engaging discussion in this forum.

Second language in Germany?
Hi,
Just out of curiosity, what is the most common language in Germany besides German?
In the US it is Spanish.
In Taiwan it is English.

Well, Dirk, you forgot Bavarian, Saxonian and some other lokal "languages"/dialects as well as French (in the south west) and "Plattdeutsch" which is not a dialect.
But Engish definately is the most common language besides German in Germany, Dillon.
So go ahead and post your enquiries here or at http://www.fountainpen.de and
