Any info about "Garant"?
Any info about "Garant"?
Hi!
I recently came across an old Garant piston filler pen. It looks like a student model.
Was curious -- can anyone tell me more about this brand?
On Google I only found references to "Garant Silva", which was an East German brand?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Any info about "Garant"?
Hello,
I also have such a pen. It is marked at the cap directly under the clip ring with
"GARANT-Silka". It is totaly black and the length is closed 12 centimeter.
The nib is marked "GARANT - Iridium - Point" and the letter G with a circle around it,
the underside of the feed is also marked with "KM" (medium nib with rounded ball point).
The ink window is tranparent and black striped.
You are also right with the references that it is an East German brand.
My pen is, as told to me, from the late 60s or early 70s.
Hope this will help you.
Best regards
Werner

Hello,
in addition to my posting above, here two pictures from the GARANT Silka.
Here are the links to the pictures:

Another question to the pre owner of this pen has the result that this pen
is from the late 50s or early 60s. The producer is Garant-Werk Erich Mucke, Leipzig.
Best regards

Hi Werner,
thanks for this information! I collect East German pens ... but I have never heard of a brand like "Garant", probably because I mainly collect pens from the 80ties ...
So thanks again for these new insights
Best regards

Re: Any info about "Garant"?
Hello Michael,
I think the Garant-Werk produced pens still in the 70s. Here is a model from this area, because the flat top at the cap end and at the end of the filling knob. This was the spirit of the age, as all manufacturers like Pelikan, Parker and Montblanc also, had pens with flat top.
Here is for example, a Garant pen of this area

Thanks to everyone for your replies!
Here's a photo of the Garant pen I have -

I don't know anything about this pen though. Can anyone tell me more please?
This is a close-up of the nib:

What does "DAUER FEDER" mean? I assume "4" is the size of the nib?

Re: Any info about "Garant"?
Hello again,
many thanks for the pictures you have posted. As a result of the shape
I would guess this pen is from the area of early 50s, perhaps earlier.
It is also possible, it is from the 40s. I don't know how long the producer
Garant-Werk Erich Mucke, Leipzig already exist.
You are right "4" is the size of the nib. "DAUERFEDER" describes a
steel nib. Such nibs would be mounted from a lot of most small producers, but
unfortunately I can not term it to a nib manufacturer.

Re: Any info about "Garant"?
Hello,
due to the design and styling I would say this garant could be produced in the 1960s. But I don't have any pricelist and brochure from this era.
