Geschätzte Plenum - TeilnehmerInnen,
alldieweil ich heute abend (wie fast jeden Tag) meine FH - Sammlung inspiziert habe, ist mir mein ehemals heissgeliebter und hochgeschätzter Celebry 590 wieder in die Hände gefallen. Eigentlich ist er vom Design her durchaus ein ebenbürtiger Wettbewerber zu einigen mit Recht sehr begehrten Waterman - Modellen, findet aber im Plenum kaum Erwähnung.
Ich nutze ihn nicht mehr so oft, weil die meiner Ansicht nach extrem steife Feder (M) obwohl = 14 Karat wie eine billige Stahlfeder übers Papier kratzt. Ein Federtausch scheint so problemlos wie bei der Souverän - Serie nicht möglich. Kann mir jemand mehr über diesen doch wirklich wunderschönen FH sagen bzw. mich informieren, ob Pelikan bei dieser nicht mehr (für Deutschland ?) produzierten Serie 590 zu akzeptablem Preis einen Federtausch durchführen würde ? Anfragen bei Pelikan, ja, würde ich gerne machen, wenn ich wüsste, welche Feder optimal ist. Ich habe keine Ahnung, ob z. B. die B - Feder bei der Souverän - Serie der B - Feder beim Celebry entspricht, wäre aber evtl. auch interessiert an einer OM.

Obwohl der Artikel eigentlich für pentrace.com gedacht war, stelle ich ihn hier schon einmal vorab ins Netz. Der Text ist von vorneherein auf Englisch entstanden, so daß es keinen Deutschen Entwurf gab. Es existiert zwar eine deutsche Übersetzung, aber die ist momentan nicht auffindbar.

Talking about Pelikans, most people think of "those neat, green-striped piston fillers". So it is hardly surprising that only few are aware of Pelikan's high-end cartridge fillers, although they have been around for forty years now. Starting back in 1963 with the P1 Series, followed by the Signum series (1978-1987), the New Classic line (1992-1995) and leading to the current lineup of cartridge filled Pelikans: The Celebry.
As Pelikan feels obligated to tradition, embodied by the Souveran series, the Celebry line offers far more possibilities towards a contemporary design. The most striking feature of these pens is a wide waistband, done in the same color as the trim and offering plenty of space for a nice engraving. The clip features a modern interpretation of the beak-theme, being much more streamlined than the clips on the Souverän pens. However, as the Celebry is a true Pelikan, this was not done at the expense of function as this clip works just as beatifully as any other Pelikan clip.
A chief advantage of the Celebry range is certainly the vast variety of different colors available. Altogether there are seventeen colors available:
Stainless steel/ black trim (P560)
matte blue/ black trim (P565)
matte red/ black trim (P565)
red/ silver trim (P570)
blue/ silver trim (P570)
green/ silver trim (P570)
black/ silver trim (P570)
All the above pens feature a nice stainless steel nib available in fine medium and broad. The pens below are equipped with 14kt (solid on P580/ two-tone on P590 series) and 18kt two-tone nibs (P596). The caps on the P590/596 series are gold plated except for the all-silver plated P596).

Counting rollerballs, mechanical pencils and ballpoints there are in all sixty-eight pens to collect! But the question is: Do they perform as good as other Pelikans?
The answer is: "Yes"! As far as I can see the nibs are quite similar to those used in the earlier New Classic series, making them typical Pelikan nibs of the early 1990s: Soft and smooth. Although they are not truly flexxy, the gold nibs allow expressive writing and in my opinion they feel just perfect. This may forgive the fact that the celebrys are mere cartridge/ converter fillers. However, they do have advantages: If you're on the go, it is much more comfortable to quickly insert a cartridge than to fill your pen with a travelling inkwell, not to speak of a regular inkbottel.
A nice detail on these pens is the section which is made of metal, and plated to match the waist ring and the rest of the trim. Yet there is no need to be afraid of fingerprints because there is a special gripping zone done in a matte finish. This makes writing a special experience, because there is not slipping around. The Celebry is nicely balance as long as you don't post the cap. This isn't a good idea anyway, because unlike its predecessor, the Celebry lacks a clutch ring which would secure the cap before it touches the barrel. So posting the cap will inevitably lead to nasty scratches in the long run.
Looking at the price tag, there are good news: The Celebry is priced very reasonably at 43 Euros for the P560 and 102 Euros for the P580. Unfortunately the P590/596 series has been discontinued lately, but as Pelikan cartridge fillers are generally not so much sought after, they may be available at rather low prices - if you manage to locate one!
Would I recommend this pen? Well, as often this is a matter of taste: If you don't mind a c/c filler, then the answer is: Yes! The Celebry is a true Pelikan in terms of writing and available at a bargain price. With 40 years of Pelikan cartridge fillers, the Celebry is not just a tribute to modern writing habits, but it also carries out Pelikans tradition in its very own way.

Ich kaufte mir im Jahre 2001 einen Pelikan Celebry.
Da ich aber bestimmte Vorstellung und alte Tratition hatte,die ich nicht aufgeben wollte (grün-schwarz oder schwarzer Pelikanfüllhalter) und ich einen modernen schlanken (da ich zwischen rechten Zeigefinger und Mittelfinger schreibe)besitzen wollte, entschied ich mich für den Celebry.
Aber o,je:Goldfeder und schwarz-Fehlanzeige.Nur zweifarbig-achat-marmoriert.
Also Körper vom P570 und Oberteil mit Feder vom P590.

Aber es gibt bei Pelikan die gute Fee Frau Nicole Jathe !!
Sie half mir Verzweifelten mit grosser Kentniss und Einfühlungsvermögen aus allen meinen Nöten.Mehrmals!
Er schreibt noch heut genau so gut wie am Anfang und wie mein MB 146.
Aber er ist hundert mal mehr in Gebrauch.
